Squirrel It — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 16, 2026
Squirrel It is a personal URL-saving and AI-enrichment tool, built and operated by an independent developer. This policy explains what data the service collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: your saves are private, nothing is sold, and nothing is used to train AI models.
Data you give us
- Account: your email address, used for magic-link sign-in and transactional email (welcome, account notices). Google sign-in shares your email and name with us via Google.
- Your saves: the URLs you save, the content fetched from them (text, transcripts, captions), and anything you add — notes, categories, tags, questions you ask.
- Feedback: anything you send through the in-app feedback form or the landing-page survey.
Data collected automatically
- Usage analytics: we use Microsoft Clarity to understand how the app is used (pages, taps, session recordings) and the Meta Pixel for ad attribution on the public landing page.
- Service logs: standard technical logs (timestamps, error reports, hashed IP addresses for rate limiting). We never store raw IP addresses for rate limiting.
- Cookies & local storage: used to keep you signed in and remember preferences (font size, dismissed prompts). No third-party advertising cookies inside the app.
Who processes your data
Squirrel It runs on a small set of service providers, each used for one job:
- Supabase — database, authentication, and hosting of your saved content.
- Anthropic (Claude) — AI enrichment: summaries, titles, tags, and answers to your questions. Your content is processed to generate these and is not used to train models.
- Apify — fetching public content from the URLs you save (Reddit threads, YouTube transcripts, article text).
- Paddle — payment processing for the Pro plan. Paddle is the merchant of record: card details go directly to Paddle and never touch our servers. See Paddle's privacy policy for how they handle payment data.
- Microsoft Clarity / Meta — analytics and ad attribution as described above.
What we never do
- Sell your data.
- Share your saves or questions with advertisers.
- Use your content to train AI models.
- Read your stash except to debug a problem you've reported.
Your rights
- Export: you can export all of your saved data from Settings at any time.
- Deletion: you can clear all your data from Settings, or request full account deletion by emailing hello@squirrelit.app. Deletion is permanent.
- Email: every non-essential email includes an unsubscribe link.
If you're in the EU/UK, these map to your GDPR rights (access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection). Contact us and we'll honor them.
Data retention
Your saves are kept until you delete them or your account. Analytics data is retained per Clarity's and Meta's standard windows. Payment records are retained by Paddle as required by tax law.
Children
Squirrel It is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be communicated via the email you signed up with. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
